Virgin Mojito
Craving a cocktail, but you’re doing a dry challenge, pregnant, or don’t drink? Enjoy this minty virgin mojito—you will love it! I love mojitos, but this one is a great alternative when I’m looking for a non-alcoholic beverage. I drank a lot of these when I was pregnant (funny because my daughter Madison loves them too). Do you miss the rum? Not really! A mojito has such strong flavors that omitting the rum doesn’t radically change anything.
Why This Nojito Recipe Works
- Fun: Just because it’s a nonalcoholic drink, it doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun. This mojito mocktail feels festive to have at parties.
- Simple: After you muddle the ingredients, just fill your glass with ice and soda for a quick and easy virgin mojito.
- Versatile: You can play around with different flavors. Add strawberries, raspberries, passion fruit, or lychee for variations!
- Great Way to Use Mint: Every summer, I always have tons of mint in my garden, so I love making this nojito recipe.
- Refreshing: This mocktail is perfect way to cool off on a hot day.
What’s the difference between a nojito and mojito?
A mojito is a classic Cuban cocktail made of rum, lime, mint, and soda. A nojito is a nonalcoholic mojito without rum.
What is a nojito made of?
- Spearmint: You’ll need 10 fresh mint leaves.
- Lime: Cut half of a lime into three wedges.
- Sweetener: Use your preferred sweetener, like monk fruit, stevia, or sugar.
- Soda: You’ll need seven ounces of club soda or sugar-free lemon-lime soda.
- Ice: Fill your glass up with ice cubes for a cold drink.
How to Make a Nojito Mocktail
- Muddle the mint and one lime wedge in a tall glass to release the mint oils and lime juice.
- Lime and Sugar: Add another lime wedge with the sweetener and muddle again.
- Soda: Fill the glass with ice and club soda.
- Serve: Stir, garnish with a few mint sprigs, and serve with a straw.
Variations:
- Virgin Strawberry Mojito: Muddle some strawberries.
- Raspberry Nojito: Add some muddled raspberries.
- Ginger and Lemon Nojito: Swap the soda for ginger beer and the limes for lemon.
- Cucumber: Muddle a few cucumber slices with the lime and mint.
- Like things less sweet? Decrease the sugar to suit your tastes.
How to Prep for a Party
You can batch these nojitos for a party, so you don’t have to make them individually for guests.
- Multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks you need and muddle everything in one big pitcher.
- Right before your guests arrive, pour in the soda.
- To serve, fill a glass with ice and pour the nojito to the top.
